Suffolk County Sheriff Daniel A. Varnell said in a statement to the Herald Tribune that he had "heard that there were "very serious threats" coming from the location of the shooting, and was called to the scene to take additional security measures.

The "vast majority" of the threat was directed against students and staff, he said. However, officials cautioned that the threat did not constitute a crime because the threat was not directed at the students or staff.

Police released the following statement.

"We are working to restore order, but there is a very serious threat that the G-Spot Shooting is over. If we don't do anything soon, we will close down the entire school next year."
