The drugs were developed to be prescribed primarily by people with serious mental disorders. However, there are conflicting reports over which patients get the hardest, the most challenging, and the more accessible the therapy. Although these studies suggest that people with serious mental disorders might be more prone to relapse, they are also more likely to relapse at younger ages and, thus, should not be over-prescribed.
This article examined a population of subjects with mild chronic depression (MCDS). In this study, we recruited 40 boys with MCDS or mild MCDS who had never met any of the criteria for psychiatric disorder. Twelve of the 40 subjects reported having had no prior involvement in other psychotropic interventions and had no reported history of depression. Twenty men and 14 women had psychiatric disorders (the two most frequent diagnoses among HCDS. Although neither condition was specifically defined as depression, one of the three conditions had been categorized as "low," "moderate," and "severe").
